HUNTSVILLE, TX - AUGUST: After a decade of unparalleled expansion, the Texas prison system releases hundred of prisoners every single workday from the Walls Unit, August 2000, in Huntsville, Texas. Any prisoner who has served their time is bused across the state to Huntsville, where they sign their parole papers, are given a one way bus ticket, and fifty dollars, and released out the front gate. Prisoners who are not picked up walk through the small prison industry town to the Greyhound bus station two blocks away. (Photo by Andrew Lichtenstein/Corbis via Getty Images)
